2011-12 Tryout and Pool Registration Numbers Are UP

Now that tryouts for all of the older age groups are complete, and registration for the fall pools has concluded, we are pleased to announce that the numbers in all age groups are up from last year, with a total player increase of 45 percent.

The boys' numbers showed an increase in all age groups, with the largest being an 86-percent increase in the '98 age group (U12/13) and the '97 group (U13/14) close behind with a 68-percent increase in total players. In all, the boys' pools had an increase from last year of 53.3 percent.

We have seen similar results on the girls' side with a total increase in all age groups of 45.6 percent. This is a marked rebound from the decline we have seen on this side of the program over the last three years. Most encouraging is the growth we are seeing at the older age groups — 56 percent in the '95s and 55 percent in the '96s — a result of more players continuing with the program as well as attracting new players.

Not only are our new programs — such as Sports Source College E Labs and events put on by Athletes Performance — generating interest with our current members, it has added a value to the program with new members as well. Although the Club programs have improved significantly over the years, their goal continues to be winning games; therefore, their approach to training is tactical emphasis. ODP remains the only player-centered developmental program in the area, and with the added programs of our partners, is also one of the best values in North Texas.
