North Texas ODP Alumni Selected for U17 National Team Residency Program

Vernon Bailey, who came through the North Texas Soccer ODP system before moving on to the FC Dallas Developmental Academy team, has been selected for the U-17 U.S. National Team Residency program in Bradenton, Fla. His father, John, gives ODP a lot of credit in Vernon's development.

Vernon plays as a Central Defender. Physically, he is very mature for his age. Vernon leads by his example on the field, and has a high soccer IQ. Offensively, he initiates and orchestrates the attack from the back with his poise and control of the ball, and can distribute a wide range of accurate passes over varying distances. Defensively, he positions intelligently to block passing lanes, cover teammates and win the majority of 50/50 battles on the ground or in the air. He can compete with the best 1-on-1, and is difficult to beat.

Vernon's humility is what sets him apart, and his work ethic and willingness to learn are first-class. He has a selfless attitude and is willing to do what needs to be done for the good of his team.

Watch out for Vernon as he progresses in his soccer career; he has an exciting future ahead. We wish him well on the USA U-17 team!
