North Texas Players Enjoy ODP Summer Camps, and Many Shine!
US Youth Soccer is divided into four regions, each which offers a regional camp for US Youth Soccer ODP State Association teams in each eligible age group. The camps are designed to provide high-level competition and training for participating players. During this training and competition, players who excel are selected to the Region III ODP Pool for their age/gender group. This pool then participates in regional events and is eligible for possible national team camp, pool or team participation. The Boys ODP camps were held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and the Girls ODP camps were held at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala.
ODP camps are an outstanding experience for many of our ODP players, as it allows them the opportunity to spend a week focusing on improving their skills, while maturing as a player and person. Every player is able to take something away from ODP camp because it is a player-centered program. It’s also a time to make and bond with new soccer friends.
The following is what one mother had to say about her daughter’s experience at camp: “Our daughter had the most fantastic time. Prior to going, she was nervous about camp, and at times, sorting through the ODP experience as a whole. She returned from camp talking non-stop about it; the super coaching, her desire to keep working harder, her fun all week, and she has a bunch of new friends and has been speaking with them. It was the breakthrough we hoped would occur and a very positive experience!”
North Texas also fared well in players selected to the Regional Pools. The below lists are of the NTX ODP players selected to the 2014–15 Region III Pools for their age/gender group.
*Repeat selections, also selected to the 2013 Regional Pool
