National Youth License Coaching School in December
North Texas Soccer and FC Dallas have partnered together to host the National Youth License (NYL) Coaching School in Frisco, Dec. 7-9 and Dec. 15-16. Location for coaches’ meetings and field activities will be the FC Dallas complex.
The National Youth License focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers ages 4-12. Each day, the focus is upon one of the traditional soccer age groups of U6, U8, U10 or U12.
The National Youth License Coaching School is recommended for coaches in the various club youth academy programs, directors of coaching for local playing associations, club academy coaching directors and those coaches who would like to improve their coaching skills at these age groups.
An “A”-licensed professional coach who attended the NYL comments, “This is an ‘A License’ course for those coaching these age groups.”
The role of the coach as a facilitator is explored, as are the physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of players from 4-12; the lessons from developmental psychology; and the art of teaching. Candidates are videotaped for analysis during live training sessions. The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions and concludes with written, oral and practical examinations.
A National “D” Coaching license or waiver from the Director of Coaching and Player Development, Gary Williamson, email@example.com, is required to attend this coaching school.
The cost to attend the National Youth License Coaching School is $550 per coach, payable in full at registration. Registration deadline will be Nov. 30. This clinic is limited to 20 coaches, so register early to reserve your place. Pre-course work, including Required Reading, is necessary to complete before attending this clinic and can be found at the site linked here.
