NTX ODP Welcomes Lori Rhodes as their New ODP Board Chair
In 2007, Lori Rhodes’ daughter became a member of the NTX Soccer ODP player pool, and later went on to become a rostered player in the Region III ODP player pool. In 2009, Lori’s daughter celebrated with her ODP teammates in their victory at the ODP National Championships, where they were crowned the nation's top '91 girls ODP team.
Her daughter’s participation in NTX ODP, and her experience in the program as an ODP parent, created a passion in her heart for the ODP program. Lori later worked with NTSSA ODP in taking the program to youth soccer players in West Texas. In 2010, Lori had the privilege of traveling to Region III camp with a boys' ODP team; this experience gave her a new appreciation for all the hard work and dedication given to the ODP program by the volunteer parents.
As Lori’s term with Lubbock Soccer Association began to come to a close, she wondered what new challenges she might be able to pursue to give back to the game of soccer. The ODP Chair position became that opportunity for her to utilize her organization, budget, communication and people skills to give back to a program that was already near, and dear, to her heart.
“ODP is an amazing program, which provides high-level training to the elite players," she says. "It has seen many transformations over the past several years, and continues to transform even today. This program is instrumental in providing training and development for our players, assisting them in achieving their goals and competing at the highest levels. I look forward to continuing the great work which David Luckey, former NTX Soccer ODP Board Chair, began. David Luckey did an amazing job in transforming the program into what it is today. I am thrilled to become a part of his vision.”
Lori has been employed in health care for 35 years. Her job has given her the opportunity to work with people from many ethnic, religious, social and economic backgrounds. She is currently the manager of the Neurodiagnostic Services Department, Jay and Virginia Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and Sleep Disorders Center at Covenant Health System. This position has provided the training, opportunity and experience to lead and organize multiple groups of people.
Lori has been a part of the soccer community for over 25 years. She has experienced many levels of soccer, including U-5 Recreational, Competitive, Select, Olympic Development Program, ODP National Championship, high school, college and professional, both at home and abroad. She has been a parent, grandparent, referee, coach, board member, team mom and administrator.
We can’t think of a better person to fill the role of the NTX Soccer ODP Board Chair. As we say a heartfelt farewell to David Luckey, please join us in welcoming Lori Rhodes to NTX Soccer ODP as our new ODP Board Chair!
