North Texas to host two
National Coaching Schools

North Texas will be hosting a USSF "D" Coaching School and a USSF National Youth License Coaching School in the coming months. A USSF "D" Coaching School is scheduled for November of 2011, and the National Youth License Coaching School is scheduled for January/February, 2012.

For the USSF "D" Coaching School, the schedule calls for activities over two weekends, Nov. 11-13 and Nov. 18-20. The cost for this clinic is $125. A $50 non-refundable deposit will reserve a "seat" in this clinic, with final payment due on or before Nov. 7. Accepted forms of payment include cash or check/money order made payable to North Texas Soccer. The clinic is limited to 40 coaches, so register early! You can register on-line by clicking this link.

To be admitted to the "D" Coaching School, the coach must have completed and present their "E" Coaching License. Waivers can be requested. All waivers to take the "D" Coaching School without prior clinics will be determined by the Director of Coaching and Player Development, Gary Williamson. To obtain a waiver, you must be coaching a U12-16 Competitive Team and be one of the following: either a high school coach, or have played soccer in college for four years. If you meet these criteria and wish to obtain a waiver to attend the "D" Coaching School, send a resume to Gary Williamson at the NTSSA office with all of your previous soccer experiences.

The National "D" Coaching License is a prerequisite for the National "C" Coaching School and the National Youth License Coaching School. To attend the National "C" Coaching School, a coach must have held a National "D" License for 12 months before applying to attend. No waiting period applies for those coaches wanting to attend the National Youth License Coaching School.

The National Youth License Coaching School is scheduled for Jan. 27-29 and Feb. 3-5, 2012. The National Youth License focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers ages from 4-12 years old. Each day, the focus is upon one of the traditional soccer age groups of U6, U8, U10, or U12. The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions, and concludes with written, oral, and practical examinations.

The National Youth License Coaching School is recommended for coaches coaching in the various clubs' youth academy programs, directors of coaching for local playing associations, club academy coaching directors, and those coaches who would like to improve their coaching skills at these age groups.

Many coaches consider the National Youth License as the "A" License for youth coaching. A National "D" Coaching license or waiver from the Director of Coaching and Player Development, Gary Williamson, is required to attend this coaching school.

The cost to attend the National Youth License is $550 per coach. A non-refundable deposit of $150 will reserve you a "seat" in this school with final payment on or before Jan. 23. Acceptable forms of payment include cash or check/money order payable to North Texas Soccer. This clinic is limited to 36 coaches, so register early! Check the North Texas Soccer web site for registration details.
