Apply today for the Bobby Rhine Referee Scholarship
The FC Dallas Foundation is the charitable arm of Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas and strives to support disadvantaged youth through the sport of soccer. With the goal of advancing the sport and helping young people to supplement their income through the great game of soccer, the FC Dallas Foundation will award scholarships to energetic young people between the ages of 14 and 18 residing in the North Texas area. Applicants who demonstrate an interest in becoming a referee or advancing their referee training and might not have otherwise had the ability to do so will be given first priority in the selection process.
The FC Dallas Foundation will submit payment to North Texas Soccer (NTSSA) for the scholarship winners to attend a referee certification or advanced certification course. Upon successful completion of the course, the Foundation will also provide the necessary referee kit.
After finishing the training and receiving certification, each scholarship recipient will be assigned to recreational and/or competitive youth matches by NTSSA, which will also serve as a resource for questions. It will be up to the individual scholarship recipient to communicate his or her availability for specific matches.
All scholarship winners will be invited to attend a selected FC Dallas game during the regular season to observe an officiating crew in action! Scholars will also be ‘Interns for A Day’ at the FC Dallas stadium to learn about the professional side of a sports team.
