Presidents Cup Winners Crowned
The third annual Presidents Cup tournament took place in Lewisville over the weekend of March 16-17. It gets better every year, with great competition and great fun. The U13-U17 champions have won the right to represent North Texas in the Regional championships in Decatur, Ala., in June.
This year had two finals featuring teams from the same club playing each other for the championship. In the U14 Boys final, Texas Lightning Black played Texas Lightning Gold in the championship, with the Gold team prevailing in a shootout to return to Regionals for a second year in a row.
FC Dallas, meanwhile, had five teams advance to the finals, including the other matchup of teams from the same club. The FC Dallas South Red U12 boys played against FC Dallas Blue in the U12 final, with FC Dallas Blue winning a very close game.
Dallas Sting had two teams prevail as Champions, with U13 Sting North Garrett and U17 Sting Royal both winning. Likewise, Liverpool Rush took home two championships, one in U12 girls and the other in U14 girls.
Kathy Rudd, Tournament Director, said, "North Texas is going to have strong teams in Regionals in Alabama. We are looking forward to the competition and hope to have teams advance to Nationals and win!"
Congratulations to each of the teams who participated over the past several months, and to the many volunteers who helped make the tournament a success. Check out the list of winning teams and finalists below, and wish our U13-U17 champions good luck at Regionals in June!
