National Youth License Coaching School in June
North Texas Soccer will be hosting the National Youth License (NYL) Coaching School in Frisco on June 13-15, and June 20-22. Location for coaches’ meetings and field activities will be in the Frisco area.
The National Youth License focuses upon the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. The course curriculum covers ages from 4 thru 12 years old. Each day, the focus is upon one of the traditional soccer age groups of U6, U8, U10 or U12.
The National Youth License Coaching School is recommended for coaches in the various club youth academy programs, directors of coaching for local playing associations, club academy coaching directors, and those coaches who would like to improve their coaching skills at these age groups.
An “A”-licensed professional coach who attended the NYL comments, “This is an ‘A-license’ course for those coaching these age groups.”
The role of the coach as a facilitator is explored; the physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of players from 4-12 are explored; the lessons from developmental psychology are explored; and the art of teaching is explored. Candidates are videotaped for analysis during live training sessions. The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions and concludes with written, oral and practical examinations.
A National “D” Coaching license or waiver from the Director of Coaching and Player Development, Gary Williamson, firstname.lastname@example.org, is required to attend this coaching school.
The cost to attend the National Youth License Coaching School is $550 per coach, payable in full at registration. The registration deadline will be June 6. This coaching school has limited space, so register early to reserve your spot.
