Texans 01 Boys Reach Finals
of Las Vegas Cup
The Dallas 01 Craft celebrated the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday by taking a trip to Las Vegas to test their strength across state borders.
The boys started off Saturday a little sluggish, but finished with a 2-1 win against Heat FC from Nevada. A 4-0 win vs. San Diego FC and a 4-1 win vs. Las Vegas SA on Sunday had them advancing to the semi-final.
The Texans now had to play a tough TFC team in the semi-final — both had traveled all the way from Texas to compete against top teams in Las Vegas, but only one could reach the final. When the final whistle sounded, it was Dallas Texans Craft handing TFC a 4-2 loss to advance to the final boasting a 14-4 goal differential through four games.
The Final - DT Craft vs. Las Vegas SA Red
The first few minutes favored DT Craft, with lots of scoring opportunities but nothing touching the net. Finally, Las Vegas SA Red scored on a great shot and put the pressure on DT Craft to equalize. It was furious to the end, but after banging a couple of posts and some brilliant goalie work, DT Craft succumbed to Las Vegas SA Red, who had not let in a goal the entire tournament.
Despite the 1-0 defeat in the finals, the entire weekend was a thrill for all of the boys involved, who were all eager to give every effort to be triumphant next year.
Congratulations to each of these outstanding young players!
